This 5 day SMSTS Training course is designed for site managers, site agents and persons who are, or due to be, responsible for planning, organising, monitoring, controlling and administering groups of staff and a workforce.

The SMSTS course covers all relevant legislation and other aspects which affect safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. It highlights the need for risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of the necessary control measures and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture among the workforce.

This 5 day SMSTS Training course is designed for site managers, site agents and persons who are, or due to be, responsible for planning, organising, monitoring, controlling and administering groups of staff and a workforce.

The SMSTS course covers all relevant legislation and other aspects which affect safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. It highlights the need for risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of the necessary control measures and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture among the workforce.

The delegate must attend all five days of their chosen course to be successful in obtaining the qualification. You will be required to sit a small multiple choice exam and present a Health and safety policy to site safery. Some providers offer a guaranteed pass system.

The SMSTS certificate is valid for 5 years. In that period candidates must sit the SMSTS Refresher course in order to renew their SMSTS certification. The refresher course then gives you a further 5 years qualification.

Who Should Attend?

This course is intended for site managers and site supervisors and project managers / agents. This is the progression from the SSSTS course. Please note a good understanding of written and spoken English is required to attend this course.

At the end of the Training, candidates will be aware and able to: –

Implement all health, safety, welfare and environmental legislation which affects them during their daily work

Implement new guidance and industry best practice

State their duties and responsibilities with regards to health, safety, welfare and the environment

  • Current and recent changes in accept working practices.

Assessment

At the end of the CITB SMSTS course, each individual will have been assessed as an individual and through a group exercise and will have passed a multiple choice examination. This then qualifies them for the Construction Site Managers Safety Certificate.

Delegates must attend all of the days, in accordance with the SMSTS course programme, to achieve the necessary learning objectives to qualify for the SMSTS certificate.
