Who Should Attend?
IOSH Directing Safely is designed for directors / owners of SME’s (the term ‘small and medium sized enterprises’ applies to organisations with fewer than 250 employees)
Objectives
At the end of the Training, candidates will be aware and able to: –
Ensure that safety requirements are appreciated by people employed as team leaders, supervisors, line managers, and to enable them to review their own departmental systems for safety, introducing new controls or implementing changes as appropriate to ensure safety in the workplace.
Course Content
An understanding of the importance of strategic health and safety management and its integration into other business management systems.
An understanding of directors’ and employees’ statutory duties.
Skills to identify accident causes and plan for prevention through hazard identification, risk assessment and control strategies.
An appreciation of the consequences of failing to manage health and safety effectively.
An understanding of the importance of employee selection and the effect of human factors on health and safety.
Skills to recognise the importance of consultation and communication with employees on health and safety issues.
An appreciation of the significance of performance monitoring for continual improvement of health and safety management.
Assessment
At the end of the day you will sit a 15 written assessment, that includes 10 project based multiple choice questions.
