Duration – 3 day

Qualification – Emergency First Aid at Work

Awarding Organisation – Accredited First Aid Training, ie St Johns, Redcross.

Length of Qualification – 3 years – Approx 18 hrs

This course is designed for a member of the company / organisation that has been nominated to take charge of first aid related incidents as a fully qualified First Aider. This is in conjunction with the company’s legal obligations and Health and Safety guidance.

This course is designed for a member of the company / organisation that has been nominated to take charge of first aid related incidents as a fully qualified First Aider. This is in conjunction with the company’s legal obligations and Health and Safety guidance.

Due to the importance of this course it’s important that the candidate has the ability and desire to learn and absorb the skills taught. 

Course Objectives

At the end of the training, candidates will be able to;

 

Understand a wide, in-depth knowledge of First Aid and be a proficient First Aider in the work place able to prioritise and treat effectively.

Course Content

First aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure)

 

Basic Life Support (BLS) cardiopulmonary resuscitation

 

The assessment and treatment of;

Choking

Wounds and bleeding

Shock

First aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters)

Burns and scalds

Injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries

Chest injuries

Eye injuries

Sudden poisoning

Anaphylactic shock.

Recognise the presence of major illnesses and provide appropriate first aid (including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes.)

 

Assessment

At the end of the training you will be required to take a Practical test, you will be observed thought out the course and need to pass a final assessment.
